Single or double glazed partitions?

Single or double glazed partitions? It's a question specifiers often ponder over when it comes to acoustic glazed partitions for their projects, and the key factor to consider is:

What level of sound-proofing is required for the space?

Firstly, it’s crucial to understand that the partition type is an important factor, but the acoustic performance is also determined by other aspects of the construction such as return air grilles, floor and ceiling make-up and abutment details.

In simple terms, a double glazed system will give superior acoustic rating up to 47dB, making it the preferred choice for private confidential meeting rooms.

By comparison single glazed systems can be enhanced with acoustic laminated glass to provide up to 41dB.

If you or your client are unsure about the requirements, one option may be to install a Silence 100D double glazed system with a single glazed unit, which can be upgraded to a double glazed system by simply removing the extruded aluminium infill panel and adding an extra sheet of glass.
